An Efficient Safety-Oriented Car-Following Model for Connected Automated Vehicles Considering Discrete Signals

نویسندگان

چکیده

With the rapid development of Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) technology, limited self-driving vehicles have been commercially available in certain leading intelligent transportation system countries. When formulating car-following model for CAVs, safety is usually basic constraint. Safety-oriented models seek to specify a safe following distance that can guarantee if preceding vehicle were brake hard suddenly. The discrete signals CAVs bring series phenomena, including decision-making, phase difference, discretely distributed communication delay. influences these phenomena on are rarely considered literature. This paper proposes an efficient safety-oriented considering impact signals. constraints during both normal driving sudden incorporated into one integrated eliminate possible collisions whole process. mechanical delay information used improve efficiency. Four modules designed enhance comfort string stability case heavy packet losses. Simulations platoon with diversified types demonstrate safety, efficiency, proposed model. Tests different loss rates imply could even poor environments.

An improved car-following model considering variable safety headway distance

( a Department of Civil Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China) Abstract: Considering high speed following on expressway or highway, an improved car-following model is developed in this paper by introducing variable safety headway distance. Stability analysis of the new model is carried out using the control theory method. Finally, numerical simulations are implemented and the ...

Car Following Model Improvement for Traffic Safety Metrics Reproduction

Car Following models have a critical role in all microscopic traffic simulation models. Current microscopic simulation models are unable to mimic the unsafe behaviour of drivers as most are based on presumptions about the safe behaviour of drivers. Gipps model is a widely used car following model embedded in different micro-simulation models. This paper examines the Gipps car following model to...

An efficient Imperialistic Competitive Algorithm for the closed-loop supply chains considering pricing for product, and fleet of heterogeneous vehicles

This paper investigates a pricing multi-period, closed-loop supply chains (CLSCs) with two echelons of producers and customers. Products are delivered to customers might be defective which are picked up and gathered in the collection center and will be fixed if it is possible and will be returned to the chain. Otherwise, they are sold as waste. This problem is determining price and distributio...
